Assistant Management Accountant for a part-time, fixed-term contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional seeking flexibility and the chance to contribute to a well-established team during a period of transition and development.
Key Responsibilities: - Oversee and process monthly payroll for approx. 55 staff and a number of freelance contractors, liaising with external payroll providers to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Manage accounts payable functions, including invoice processing, supplier reconciliations, and handling payment queries.
- Raise and maintain purchase orders, ensuring proper coding, budget alignment, and internal controls are followed.
- Support the finance team in month-end procedures, including journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations.
- Assist with ad hoc financial tasks and reporting as required.
- Prepare and post journals, including payroll, accruals, and prepayments.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all key accounts are reviewed and any discrepancies are investigated and resolved.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, supporting variance analysis and commentary for departmental review.
- Support budget holders with month-end queries and provide timely and accurate financial information.
- Reconcile control accounts, including payroll control and accounts payable.
- Maintain the fixed asset register, ensuring new additions and disposals are correctly recorded and depreciated.
Key Requirements: - Experience in payroll processing and accounts payable within a small to medium-sized organisation.
- Confident with financial systems and Excel; experience with Sage or similar software is advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities across part-time hours.
- A proactive and collaborative approach with the ability to work independently.
